Elon Musk had discussions about his plans for Twitter, which is now known as X, on Monday while being a part of a live-streamed conversation with the Prime Minister of Israel, Benjamin Netanyahu. Among other topics, Musk said that the social networking platform is “moving to have a small monthly payment for use of the X system” so that they can combat “vast armies of bots.”
Msuk, however, did not say how much would a new plan cost the users for using the social media platform or what diverse features might or might not be included with the package of the lowest tier.
During the live streaming, Musk also mentioned some of the new metrics from the X app, adding that it now has over 50 million users in a month, who help generate approximately 100 or 200 million posts in a day.
However, he did not disclose what percentage of the monthly users contribute to authentic users as compared to bots. He also did not make a side-by-side comparison with the data that was previously used by Twitter. In May 2022, before Musk took over, Twitter had reported that it had an average of 229 million daily monetizable active users.
The chat with Netanyahu was primarily meant to focus on the theoretical risks related to artificial intelligence and how AI must be under regulations. However, Musk also used it to debate the perception that his social platform tolerates antisemitism and hate speech.
The meeting resulted in widespread criticism of Musk by the groups associated with civil rights over his emphasizing of bias on his social platform, which includes antisemitic content, accounts, and conspiracies.
Recently, X has been trying to get licenses to become a money-transferring entity across the United States, and as per records, it has already succeeded in doing so in eight states.
